Detailed Description

Semiconductor Sensing Structural Components: Core Guarantee for Sensing Accuracy

Semiconductor sensing structural components are essential parts of semiconductor sensors, performing key functions such as signal sensing, transmission, support, fixation, and environmental protection. They serve as the fundamental carriers for converting physical and chemical quantities into electrical signals. These components must meet stringent requirements such as high sensitivity, high stability, miniaturization, and durability under complex working conditions. They are widely used in industrial detection, medical equipment, automotive electronics, consumer electronics, and other fields, directly determining the sensor's detection accuracy and response speed.

Core Characteristics and Material Systems

The material selection for semiconductor sensing structural components must balance sensing performance and environmental compatibility, with three main categories of materials:

  • Metal materials: Titanium alloys, copper alloys, and stainless steel are common. Titanium alloys offer excellent corrosion resistance and biocompatibility, making them suitable for medical implantable sensors; copper alloys are excellent in electrical conductivity, used for sensing signal electrodes; stainless steel has high rigidity, suitable for supporting sensor frameworks.

  • Ceramic materials: These include aluminum nitride, zirconia, and piezoelectric ceramics. Aluminum nitride combines good thermal conductivity and electrical insulation, ideal for high-temperature sensing scenarios; piezoelectric ceramics enable the conversion between mechanical and electrical energy, making them key materials in pressure and vibration sensors.

  • Polymer materials: Polyimide and LCP (liquid crystal polymer) are the main types. These materials offer flexibility and weather resistance, used as the substrate structure for flexible sensors, meeting the curved surface fitting needs of wearable devices.

Some high-end structural components use metal-ceramic composite materials, with interface modification technology that integrates sensing and support functions, improving sensor integration.

Manufacturing Processes and Precision Control

The manufacturing of semiconductor sensing structural components combines MEMS micro-nano processing and precision molding technologies. Key processes include photolithography, etching, thin-film deposition, micro-assembly, and performance calibration. Photolithography controls pattern precision at the micron or even nanometer level, providing accurate templates for subsequent etching. Deep reactive ion etching (DRIE) enables the formation of microstructures with high aspect ratios, suitable for micro pressure sensor diaphragm processing. Thin-film deposition, through technologies like magnetron sputtering and chemical vapor deposition (CVD), forms nanometer-thin sensitive films on the surface of structural components, enhancing sensitivity to temperature, humidity, and gases. After forming, components undergo ultrasonic cleaning and plasma surface treatment to remove impurities and optimize surface performance.

Quality control relies on laser interferometers, atomic force microscopes, and other equipment to validate the dimensional tolerance (within ±0.001mm), surface roughness (Ra ≤ 0.01μm), and sensor response performance, ensuring the components meet the high-precision requirements of sensors.

Application Scenarios and Technological Trends

In industrial applications, semiconductor sensing structural components support pressure and temperature sensors for real-time monitoring of industrial equipment; in medical devices, miniature sensing components are used in ECG and blood glucose monitoring devices to ensure accurate biological signal collection; in automotive electronics, they are used in tire pressure monitoring systems and autonomous driving radar sensors to enhance vehicle safety; in consumer electronics, flexible sensing components enable motion and health monitoring in smartwatches and fitness bands.

Currently, semiconductor sensing structural components are evolving towards miniaturization, multifunctional integration, and intelligence. MEMS technology is driving the reduction of component sizes to the micron level, while multi-parameter composite sensing components can simultaneously detect temperature, humidity, pressure, and other indicators. The integration of embedded smart chips enables real-time processing and transmission of sensing data, supporting the upgrade of sensors to lower power consumption and higher reliability.
